WHO WE ARE
Chronic Care Allied Health specialise in the treatment and management Neurological conditions using evidence based exercise programs. Our Exercise Physiologists are specialists in Neurological rehab and we aim to be a one stop shop with other allied health professionals commonly needed as part of neurological and disability rehab. This includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and psychologists. Although our specialty is in Neurological Rehabilitation, we also treat all chronic conditions such as Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Cancer and even Falls Prevention. Over the last 7 years we have provided a community based rehab service covering most all of Metro Sydney, as well as our onsite clinic located in Kogarah.
Our Purpose is to not only be the leader in Neurological Rehabilitation, but to redefine the rehab setting. We all know that exercise is essential for our health and well-being, but we want to provide a service that goes beyond that. Currently there is a very important piece missing in the rehabilitation sector, and that is to use specific exercise programs to treat chronic disease at the impairment level.
In Medicine we are very good at prescribing drugs to treat the disease or even just the symptoms, but why are we not prescribing Exercise as Medicine! The Science is there to show that the appropriate exercise program will treat the cause of the disease AND the symptoms without all the side effects. Appropriate medication is essential in a lot of cases but so is exercise and at the very least it should be prescribed as an adjunct to drugs. In Parkinson’s Disease, the only thing that has been proven to slow the progression is Exercise! Medication is essential in alleviating the symptoms to allow the patient to exercise at optimal capacity, however it has no effect on the impairment level and does NOT slow the progression of the disease.
Chronic Care Allied Health will only recommend what we believe is the best and quickest way to achieve your goals, independence and the quality of life you deserve. Read our Blog ‘How and Why Chronic Care came to be’ to learn more about our humble beginnings.
