OUR SERVICES

We use evidence based exercise interventions to treat our patient’s condition and help them achieve the goals they desire. Although we focus on aerobic and strength components, we also place a heavy emphasis on task-specific and functional training as part of our rehabilitation. This includes learning to walk, climbing stairs, transferring from chair to bed and even running.

We specialise in the treatment of Neurological Conditions, however our Exercise Physiologist’s have extensive experience in treating all chronic disease. We offer our Exercise Physiology services (Learn More) at our clinic in Kogarah or mobile (Learn More) in the community. Conditions that we commonly treat include:

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Parkinson’s Disease

  • Stroke

  • Spinal Cord Injury

  • Brain Tumors and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

  • Muscular Dystrophy

  • Cardiovascular disease such as Heart Failure

  • Respiratory disease such as COPD

  • Diabetes

  • Cancer

  • High Falls Risk

  • Musculoskeletal conditions such as Osteoporosis

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SESSION

The initial consultation will involve a comprehensive subjective and objective assessment of your overall condition. Following this, we will develop a treatment plan together that takes into consideration your condition, musculoskeletal issues, baseline strength and fitness, work and lifestyle goals. The exercise physiologist might flag some concerns in the assessment and recommend referrals to other health professionals such as a physiotherapist or dietitian.

The treatment plan will include a specific exercise program that will initially be supervised one-on-one, providing the confidence and education to be able to complete the program independently, then routine follow-ups for reassessment and progressions to the program. Each case is unique, and therefore each time frame for treatment will be different.

We take a team approach and work closely with your GP, specialist, case manager and other health professionals involved.
